Flobert Pocket Pistol
In the world of antique firearms, few weapons are as intriguing and stylish as these tiny flobert pocket pistols.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these compact pistols became especially popular among postmen, cyclists, and farmers.
For postmen, the Flobert pocket pistol was an essential tool for self-defense during their deliveries, particularly in rural or less populated areas. It wasn’t uncommon for postmen to face aggressive dogs or threats from unruly animals and the small size of the Flobert pistol made it the perfect choice for quickly addressing such situations.
Beyond defense, these pistols were also used in dog training. By firing low-powered blanks, Flobert pistols simulated gunshots without the risk of harm, making them an invaluable tool for training gundogs, helping to accustom them to loud noises in a safe and controlled environment.
One of their most ingenious features of this small pistol was the folding trigger. It remained tucked away until the hammer was cocked, making the pistol safer to carry and even easier to conceal.
Though small in size, the Flobert pocket pistol is an historical gem that still fascinates gun enthusiasts and collectors today.
